Have you ever had a dream that you couldn’t shake? Whether it was magical, scary, or just plain weird, some dreams make you take a look at life and what you’re going through. I had one of those last night that I’d like to share.

I was with a group of individuals that felt familiar but I could not tell you who they were. We arrived to an airport and I remember feeling a sense of urgency to get to our flight. We were rushing through the airport and someone mentioned needing to get smoothies before boarding the plane and I made the suggestion to order them ahead so we didn’t have to wait. Random I know.

As we approached the terminal to board our flight, a feeling of dread started looming over me. We all go to board the plane, and suddenly it started to downpour with lots of lightning. Everyone else seemed unbothered; I on the other hand was terrified but reluctantly got on the plane.

I looked around as everyone seemed calm and collected but the fear of the plane going down would not stop pulsating throughout my mind and body. I demanded them to let me out and they opened the door. I for some reason was required to jump from the inside of the plane to this loading board that was right outside of it…

I go to jump and as I jumped I landed perfectly on the loading board but I kept having the thought in my head of myself at the bar inside the airport with a very strong drink to calm my nerves. That specific scene kept happening over and over. But as soon as I stopped trying to fast forward to that point in my head, I woke up from the dream.

And I immediately knew what that dream was representing.

My dream was significant for two main underlying aspects of life: wanting to have control and living in the moment.

CONTROL

Control over what happens, how things happen, and when things happen is something we all tend to do from time to time. We demand for things to turn out our way and when they don’t we feel as if we have lost a grip on life. I know when I plan out my day and if something inconvenient or unwanted happens to deter that plan, I definitely feel that way.

It was a great reminder to go with the flow. Of course there are some aspects of life that we can control, but we can’t control others or the universe. Letting go of that control will allow good energy to flow.

LIVING IN THE MOMENT

There is a saying that I have always heard and rolled my eyes when I heard it:

“Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, Today is a gift. That’s why they call it The Present.”

Every word of that quote is true. We tend to live in the past or attempt to prophesize the future. When doing that, we are missing out on what is happening right before our very eyes. We miss out on the gift that is the present.

Silly dreams like that happen to me all the time. I use to wake up with a journal right next to me and would write everything down immediately and keep it to myself. But this one made me feel obligated to share with others as a friendly reminder.

Go out and live your lives. Be in the moment and release control when you feel that urge. It will make life all that more meaningful.

Shine bright with love and light!
